MOST NON-NHS SERVICES HAVE BEEN SUSPENDED INCLUDING DRIVING MEDICALS (EXCEPTIONS BEING PARAMEDICS AND AMBULANCE DRIVERS)
BOAT MEDICALS HAVE ALSO BEEN SUSPENDED - PLEASE CHECK WITH YOUR EMPLOYER AS YOU SHOULD BE ABLE TO RECEIVE AN EXTENSION TO YOUR CURRENT LICENSE
Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:
- Medicals for pre-employment, sports and driving requirements (HGV, PSV etc.)
- Insurance claim forms
- Passport signing
- Prescriptions for taking medication abroad
- Private sick notes
- Vaccination certificates
- Some travel vaccinations
- Third party letters
The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
Patients often ask for Letters of Support from patients for benefits claims or housing requests. GPs workload does not allow for these and such letters are often carry little or no weight in statutory bodies decision making - despite what people's perceptions seem to be!
THE CONTRACT UNDER WHICH GPs WORK, MEANS THEY ARE UNDER NO OBLIGATION AT ALL WITH REGARDS TO SUCH REQUESTS.
